[OS X TeX] Setting up PDFtricks on MacOS10.4

No, Herb, I'm saying LaTeX couldn't find pdftricks.sty before I went  
and installed it myself. It didn't get as far as a bounding box error  
or anything like that. I could make a file like

\documentclass[a4paper]{article}
\usepackage{pdftricks}
\begin{document}
Hi.
\end{document}

and it would fail on the \usepackage line, saying it could not find  
pdftricks.sty. I don't have a problem here. I just downloaded  
pdftricks and put it in ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/. However, having  
seen this error made me think pdftricks was not already installed.  
Yet you say it should have been installed already.
