Piet, I saved the figures still into eps format, but GraphicConverter
used JPEG compression to reduce the size. Do you mean that I should go
(original) eps -> PNG -> eps?

As previously mentioned, I do want to work with the eps version all
the way so there's little or none modification at the end when
submitting the paper.
