I do agree. Yesterday I have tried again to persuade LaTeX: Please,  
let me use Cairo (my students and I especially love the neat dug)! I  
accurately followed the set of instructions, got several interesting  
files, wrote a .sty file (!!), installed these files - but it was the  
same depressing result as so often before: I saw a horrible lot of  
blatancy - but my Mac rumored - then, really!, an output - a ray of  
hope - oh: a white page. Looked fine for me, but was not the result I  
asked for.

XeLaTeX seems to solve the font install problem, but I cannot use it  
because there are many mistakes concerning mathematics. So I wait and  
hope. Hope and wait patiently. Textures was able to handle fonts, but  
that is foretime… LaTeX and fonts - a never ending disaster.
