[OS X TeX] texmf.cnf

Hello

I would like to modify the variable TEXINPUTS

All my files are in  /Users/ego/Work/Base/ and

  i try to add this in /usr/local/teTeX/texmf.cnf

TEXINPUTS.pdflatex = 	   .;$HOME/Work/Base;$TEXMF/{pdftex,tex}/ 
{latex,generic,}//

  after i make : sudo texhash

but this don't work.  I don't understand why
