XEmacs works indeed much better!

 From the first start a few packages are missing: uniquify to convert 
.emacs to init.el (because of too much customization done?), efs for 
package management, and I don't know what else. I couldn't find a way 
to change the font size or create a font set for even better Unicode 
support ...
