[OS X TeX] Spotlight importers

You probably shouldn't have done that. Spotlight plugins can live  
inside of app bundles at:

     myApp/Contents/Library/Spotlight/myApp.mdimporter

I don't use emacs so can't comment on whether they have done it right  
(no reason to suppose they haven't), but with the plugin in this  
location, it should work, provided that it conforms and that they  
have added the necessary stuff to the application's info.plist.

If they have built things correctly, their plugin will *only* work in  
this location and having two or more instances of the same plugin in  
two or more of the standard locations [1]  will conflict.

It may not run straight away. I'd put it back (or delete the copy in / 
Library/ ) and then try this:

     mdimport -r /Path/to/the/plugin/in/the/app/bundle

mark.

Spotlight/
my.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/
