[OS X TeX] LaTeX panel redux?

Every time I resume working on "the" book with TeXShop 1.40, I have to 
reopen the LaTeX panel. I am not sure but it seems to me that TeXShop 
1.35e used to remember when the LaTeX panel had been left open upon 
closing the file. If so, any reason why this behaviour could not be set 
as a preference?
