[OS X TeX] Questions about makeindex and TeXShop

Howdy,
I'd try simply opening the original .tex file and running makeindex
from the typeset menu or Shft-Cmd-I. I have a feeling that TeXShop is
removing the .tex and putting in the .idx in the background.
