I had this impression when upgrading from 10.1 to 10.2. This has some
logic: a lot of debugging code was removed. Going to Panther (10.3) I
did not feel more speed or performance, maybe due to my old and slow
disk. When I sold my old PowerBook Titanium to a friend I recommended
that he'd buy a new disk and I'd mount it, do the installation etc.
This gave a power boost! I would have kept my old little PowerBook ...
And this has some logic too: Apple renewed much of their disk
interfaces.
