Alternatively, he can download
http://www.tug.org/texlive/Images/protext.exe, a 360MB download,
which is a complete package based on MikTeX and includes a couple
of GUI frontends. It doesn't contain all the MikTeX packages, but
the included package manager makes it easy to add packages from
the internet.
