Howdy,

The preference only exists for DropStuff, Expander and Deluxe so those are
the only ones you need to change. To speed things up without using the
Terminal (not that that is difficult) turn off your internet connection(s),
open those applications (whichever ones you have - they'll open quickly with
the connection off), change the preference and turn your connection(s) back
on.
