[OS X TeX] Replace LaTeX????

you don't edit your text? 

WHen I was finishing my book it became almost impossible to read - only
BBEdit's syntax colouring made it remotely possible. With the index
entries, footnotes (often within one another)...

so it starts easy but I had to spend a lot of time working with a
heavily marked up text. I'm surprised if you don't. I bet lots of us do!

there was a setup using NisusWriter (Classic) for this I think, using
complex macros. But who wants to use a classic app now? (rhetorical).
