Well, at least they didn’t upgrade to FrameMaker 7.0 (2001?)! But I suspect that Pages 1.0 was rushed to market pretty quickly, and I for one would have chosen something more stable than an alpha or beta release for the documentation effort. And Pages doesn’t do indexes...

Perhaps the Apple documentation team should consider moving to ConTeXt...
