[OS X TeX] What kind of operation is TeXing? (concerning hardware)

I guess I did not read the question properly. Since XeTeX is Mac specific (rather 10.3+ specific), my dell+windows solution is inapplicable. However, my Mac advise is still applicable. 

Reading the question properly on my part might have saved some uproar. :-)
