Enhanced Carbon Emacs is no longer maintained by its author, Enrico
Franconi, though he is continuing to work on a plugin to Emacs that adds
the customizations formerly in the entire ECE package. A beta version of
the plugin is available at
http://www.inf.unibz.it/~franconi/enhanced-carbon-emacs/ec-emacs-plugin-beta.dmg

For Tiger and LaTeX editing, your best best is probably Yaced
(http:://yaced.sourceforge.net), which is a standard version of Emacs
maintained by Norm Gall with an available installer for AucTeX; or, if
you want a version of Emacs with more support for standard OS X
interface conventions, try Aquamacs (http://aquamacs.org), which I help
maintain. Aquamacs supports Norm Gall's AucTeX installer, Enrico
Franconi's ECE plugin, and has good font support; I do all my LaTeX
editing in that environment.

Others can speak to what updating you might need to do with TeXShop.

Cheers,

| I've upgraded to Tiger. I've been using enhanced carbon emacs,
| Gerben Wierda's TeX package, and TeXshop (to view and print).
|
| 1. The old emacs (from my use under OS 10.3) won't load. I see
| that there is a new version. Should I trash the old one before
| downloading the new binaries, or will it know how to overwrite
| things.
|
| 2. Do I need to do anything to update TeXShop?
|
| 3. Do I need to do anything to update my TeX stuff (other than run
| i-Installer
| and check for updates)
|
| Thanks,
| CS
