Once Ghostscript is installed you can type in Terminal 'gs --version' 
(I get 8.51).

Or just open i-Installer and install the ghostscript-8 i-Package. The 
other Ghostscript i-Package is numbered with 6 (at least I saw these 
two some weeks ago).
