[OS X TeX] diagonal arrows in figures

Point well taken.

Regarding the 'pdftex' option for xypic  : I downloaded the xypdf* 
files and copied them into
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/tex/generic/xypic/

I know something is missing since TeX is still complaining about the 
unknown option 'pdftex'.
Do I have to do something like 'sudo texhash' ( I have never done this 
) or are there other/more steps ?
