[OS X TeX] Saving CMSuper/EC .tfm Files

Howdy,
I don't use the CMSuper fonts very often so the cleanup process that removes
temporary files on my system deletes the .tfm files in /var/tmp/...
generated from the ecm fonts that CMSuper seems to need. Therefore, when I
do need the fonts the .tfm files must be regenerated; a time consuming
operation.
If I grab the generated .tfm files and put them in the proper location in
texmf.local (yes... and run texhash) I think I can prevent all this from
recurring. The only possible problem I see is that there are changes still
being made to the mf code for the EC fonts so I'd be making a static setup
which should remain dynamic.
1)Am I thinking along the lines? Will this do what I want it to do?
2)Am I missing a really good reason I shouldn't do this?
3)Are the EC font metrics really still in flux?
Good Luck,
Herb Schulz
