[OS X TeX] How do I make this symbol (better)?

The symbol in question is $\overset{\sim}{\rightarrow}$, intended to 
mean epimorphism. The problem is that the \sim hovers too high above 
the \rightarrow and does not look good. Does anyone know if there's a 
method or trick to lower the \sim, or if there is an entirely different 
approach?
