To add to the confusion: I had my pbb.map file (for the Bembo fonts) in
~/Library/texmf/dvips and that was picked up during the install without
prior modification of the ~/Library/texmf tree. IIRC the pbb.map showed
up (checked and all) in the map window during the configuration phase.
Does it perhaps matter exactly where a map file is located in the old
directory structure?
