I have only checked the i-Installer package for XeTeX and not the disk 
image. I would suggest using the i-Package and
a) see if it makes things better for you (but please install & 
configure TeX (TeX Live 2004) again first)
b) if not, send me  a "report" created at the moment install has 
finished
