Maybe I'm missing something but, as I have said, I think Fink prepends
its path. Even if you put

. /sw/bin/init.sh

as the last line of your .bash_profile, you get

echo $PATH
/sw/bin:/sw/sbin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/
local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current:~/bin:/Applications:/
Applications/Utilities:/Developer/Tools:/usr/X11R6/bin

and then

which which
/sw/bin/which

That's why I have the Fink line commented out and start Kile (or any
Fink application) from within X11 with the command

source /sw/bin/init.sh ; kile

I only uncomment the Fink line when updating Fink and its applications.

Of course, the other way is to set the Fink path by hand (instead of
using the Fink line), as Peter Dyballa does:

> and than /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current

but its beyond my knowledge to decide which will come first.

Best regards,

Axel
