I thought xdvi could also visualize included PS graphics, by calling gs
in the background (and it sure has the magnifying glass). Though I
sometimes (in the couple of months during which I worked on a Linux
box) experienced unexpected delays, or even PS graphics which didn't
show at all. Why this is so escapes me.
Similarly, in my attempts to create DVI output and use TeXniscope to
visualize it, I first got proper display of included EPS graphics, but
since then I haven't been able to get any included graphics shown, with
the same input file.
