[OS X TeX] TeXShop console won't hide

I am using the latest TeXShop, OS X 10.3.6.

I have set the preferences to show console only if there is an error. There
are no errors, but the console is still showing.

By the way the reason I want to do this is to speed up pdf update. Will
this have an effect?
