[OS X TeX] Compiled pdftex formats under TL 2004

Sigh... One other thing... TeX, being a UNIX program doesn't particularly
like directory names with spaces, like /My TeX Inputs/, although I don't
think that's a problem here. Running

'kpsewhich -progname=pdftex -show-path=.fmt' gave me the output

.:/Users/herbs/Library/texmf/web2c///:!!/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/w
eb2c///:!!/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.gwtex/web2c///:!!/usr/local/teTeX/sha
re/texmf.tetex/web2c///:!!/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/web2c///:/Users/herbs
/Library/texmf/web2c///:!!/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/web2c///:!!/usr
/local/teTeX/share/texmf.gwtex/web2c///:!!/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex
/web2c///:!!/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/web2c///

so it should be able to find the .fmt file in the same directory as the
original file. The second location is where I always store my special
formats.
