A very good point, and one which I meant to acknowledge.

Hopefully, the document will be in its final form before one is 
swashing it though.

I'll re-examine this aspect once my paper's done. FWIW, Alan Hoenig has 
a very nice discussion of macro-based swashing in an article for 
TUGboat.
