Although, if it is set to this default in an environment.plist file,
you are very likely
to run into trouble. So if you have an environment.plist (in a
directory called .MacOSX
in your home, normally invisible, check with a ls -a in your home from
the terminal),
you'd better remove it or at the very least remove the key for the PATH
variable in
this file.
A long shot, but if you have it, you're in trouble.
