Don't use the Display function if your graphic object uses the 
Thickness directive.  There is a bug in Mathematica's psrender utility 
which causes it to mishandle this directive is such a way that the 
thickness of a line segment in the resulting picture will depend on 
that segment's orientation.  Display calls psrender; Export evidently 
doesn't.  Unfortunately, Export isn't available in versions earlier 
than v.4.0.
