[OS X TeX] Speed of TeX on OSX

ConTeXt, in particular, gets pretty bound by the output console. I just
ran some tests, and one test file (ran so there was one pdfetex pass
only) took:
 36 secs in iTeXMac with syntax colouring in the log/console
 21 secs in iTeXMac (without colouring, how I usually work, actually)
 18 secs in TeXShop
 14-18 s in Terminal.app
 14 secs in an XTerm, and
 11 seconds with stdout redirected to a log file.

That's over 3x difference, depending on the console being displayed
during your document. So I'd take a look at how you're running your
files. ('texexec --silent', strangely, didn't change anything that I
could see.)
