[OS X TeX] Sundry files in a subdirectory?

Greetings,

I am curious as to whether anyone knows a clever (or simply overlooked 
by me) way to automatically put all the various files (.bbl .aux .bib 
.bak .log) generated in a pfdlatex run into a subdirectory, e.g.  
.filename, while leaving the primary files (.tex & .pdf) in the current 
directory? (and, naturally, still have them found by pdflatex)
