Briefly. I was going to suggest that if the bib files called for in the 
tex file weren't found in the current directory then use kpsewhich to 
find them:

 > /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/kpsewhich magnet.bib
/Users/will/Library/texmf/bibtex/bib/magnet.bib

Your script looks great. I'll get around to having a more detailed look 
later today hopefully.
