[OS X TeX] CTAN zip download

Strictly speaking, this has nothing to do with LaTeX but has been a 
problem for me for the past couple of months with CTAN: when I try to 
"get the directory's contents as a .zip archive", I get a succession of 
folders the last one of which is empty.

The latest occurence was when I tried to get the package called "cancel" 
suggested here by Berman. When I clicked on
http://www.ctan.org/getfile/?filename=macros/latex/contrib/misc/
and then on ".zip", I got the following folders

pub/tex/macros/latex/contrib/misc/

where misc was empty.

Could anyone tell me what am I doing that is even more stupid than 
usual? I would be much obliged.
