Rather than digitize your school's logo, ask the business office
whether there doesn't already exist a package with such a file in it.
I work at your cross-town rival USC, and we certainly have such a
package. It contains innumerable Adobe Illustrator files (all of them
are EPS), and as a bonus a couple of Adobe fonts which the University
licensed (Frutiger and, hmm, I forget the other).

There are also innumerable RULES about how close the logo can be to the
edge of the page, how close to another object, what the minimum size
can be, etc etc etc. While I've never heard of anyone being hassled
about abusing the logo, I **do** know that there's only one place to
get business cards with the USC logo--and it's not the USC bookstore!
But according to the terms of distribution, USC faculty can roll their
own (provided they follow the rules).
It's just that non-embossed cards don't look as good.

I know, I know, UCLA is probably only the school you're graduating
from, not the school you'll be working at. But try, when you get to
your new campus. And many others of the group may find THEIR school
has such a package, too.

Due to University fiscal constraints, all .sig's must be no more than
one
line.
