When I asked a similar question, many people have suggested the program
WinEDT.

I have played around with it a bit and it seems very nice and friendly.
Unfortunately, it costs some money. TeXnicCenter seemed to be pretty
clunky to me (it does let you compile with pdfTeX, but you had to
re-open the pdf file every time you recompiled. It was a hassle) but on
the other hand, you don't have to pay for it, either.
