[OS X TeX] Word count?

	Is there a word count feature in TeXShop or Preview?  I have a journal 
submission with a strict word limit -- "including all text, figures, 
tables, and references" as stated in the letter I received from the 
editorial assistant.

	I searched around for alternatives, and found mention of the 'detex | 
wc' option.  But 'detex' doesn't seem to be part of gwTeX, and I 
stopped dead in my tracks when I saw a makefile at 
<http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/support/detex/> -- this is well 
beyond my capabilities or comfort level (even with detailed 
instructions, which are not there).  Are there any other alternatives?  
An AppleScript for TeXShop would be ideal.  TIA.
