[OS X TeX] dropping w/ pdflatex?

anyone gotten the dropping package to work with pdflatex?  it works w/ 
regular latex, but not pdflatex.  or is there a suitable replacement?  
running pdflatex on the dropping documentation file produces errors 
such as the following
