[OS X TeX] Mac-emacs and 8-bit chars

The newest version of GNU Emacs for OS X is Emacs 21.1.30.3 
(powerpc-apple-darwin5.2.2). It has recently been posted to the Apple OS 
X download site. It comes with a multi-lingual environment which seems 
to have quite a few languages. It might be that you can solve the 
problem by simply using the newly-released version of Emacs, but I'm not 
sure.
