[OS X TeX] Drop Caps

The problem with lettrine.sty is that, if you want to use a Haralambous 
Initial, then you must use dvips -->ghostscript -->distiller rather 
than pdftex, because lettrine will only allow you to 'drop' a graphic 
file if it is in EPS format. So even if you have them in pdf format 
lettrine will not let you use them. This is a pity. (If anyone knows 
the creator Daniel Flipo, perhaps a word could be put in his shell-like 
ear that an adaptation for pdftex would be a boon for mankind.)
