These messages are pretty harmless. The maps are turned on in the 
updmap configuration file but they are ignored when unavailable and you 
get this warning.

If you install the CM-Super i-package the maps (and type1 fonts) become 
available. You can turn them on or off at will using the configuration 
stage of the i-package.

If you know how to handle this (copy and paste it on the command line 
into uudecode): here is a file that shows what cm-super does. I attach 
it like tihs, because real attachments are probably forbidden on the 
list.
