[OS X TeX] Including .pdf floats in LaTeX

use the graphicx package and regular figure + includegraphics to include 
a float.

     \begin{center}
     	\includegraphics[width=4in]{figure.pdf}
	\caption{adoption of IBS per year}\label{fig:kmsur}
     \end{center}
\end{figure}
