1)Make sure Alberto Arabia's Tex-Illustrator fonts

    http://www.math.jussieu.fr/~arabia/TeX/TeX-Illustrator.sea.hqx
    http://www.math.jussieu.fr/~arabia/TeX/TeX-Cyr-Illustrator.sea.hqx

are installed in "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts" (otherwise,
you will see *nothing* in this experiment).

2)Create a simple plain-TeX document

    $$ A - B $$
    $$ A \cdot B $$
    \end

3)Typeset it (using either dvips+ghostscript or pdftex).

4)Open the resulting PDF file in Adobe Illustrator 10. Note that the
glyphs "-" and "\cdot" are missing.

5) Now, if you set the preferences for "dvips+ghostscript" to "Save
Postscript File", open the .ps file in Illustrator. Note that the
previously missing glyphs are present.

Clearly, something's whacked. Presumably, it's Illustrator's support of
PDF, but I cannot be sure.
