[OS X TeX] mac-emacs disables remote editing (via ange-ftp)

For some reason, I am unable to edit remote files (via ange-ftp) with the
new mac-emacs package, although I have no problem using the unmodified
version of Andrew Choi's port.  Do others have this problem?
