Hi!
I would like to migrate from Scientific Work Place (on Windows NT) to
TeXShop but have troubles getting Babel to run. My preamble reads,
\documentclass[12pt]{book}
\usepackage[norsk]{babel}
which gives the following output from TeXShop:
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-1.00b-pretest-20020211 (Web2C 7.3.7)
(./Untitled.tex{/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/pdftex/config/pdftex.cfg}
LaTeX2e <2001/06/01>
Babel <v3.7h> and hyphenation patterns for american, french, german,
ngerman, n
ohyphenation, loaded.
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/book.cls
Document Class: book 2001/04/21 v1.4e Standard LaTeX document class
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/bk12.clo))
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel/babel.sty
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel/norsk.ldf
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel/babel.def)
Package babel Warning: No hyphenation patterns were loaded for
(babel) the language `Norsk'
(babel) I will use the patterns loaded for \language=0 instead.
I've tried to uncomment the line starting with "%norsk nohyph.tex" in file
"language.dat" in folder /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/generic/config,
and have checked that the file "nohyph.tex" exists in folder
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen, and that the files
"norsk.ldf" and "norsk.sty" exist in folder
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel. However, I am suspicious
that Babel never reads from "language.dat"! Anyone who can help me on this?
Best regards, Tore.
