I’m not sure, and being on a train trip on an iphone I can’t easily check right now, but I think the way updmap works changed a couple of years back. In particular, IIRC there is no longer an updmap-sys vs updmap, so I’m not sure your updmap-sys invocation is the way to go.
False alarm: back at a computer and looking at the docs, the instruction you ran
updmap-sys --force --enable Map=lucida.map
is the proper one (and it was at <http://tug.org/store/lucida/README-type1.txt> anyway, I should have looked there first). On the Mac it would need to be preceded by sudo, as in
sudo updmap-sys --force --enable Map=lucida.map
but I don't know what the situation is on Windows.
To help diagnose what's happening with your setup, I can think of two things:
- Run
updmap-sys --listmaps
which returns the list of map files known to updmap, and for each whether it is active or inactive. Could you post the line related to lucida.map in the output, if any?
- Typeset say the file
doc/fonts/lucidabr/lucida-type1.tex
and post the resulting log file, so we can compare what we get on our setups.
