dear lucida experts:
I have just (re-)purchased the TUG lucida set, and installed it. The
LaTeX installation was straightforward. However, here is a suggestion:
why is there not a "lucida" package that does all three apparently
required steps
(\usepackage[T1]{fontenc},\usepackage{textcomp},\usepackage{lucidabr})
and/or anything else that should be done.
more importantly, although I use only latex, I have to be able to
typeset something that uses a different macro package, based on plain
tex. Alas, even the simplest file does not seem to work. Here is
'test.tex':
\font \lucida = lbr at 14pt
\lucida
Hello world!
\bye
...and...
$ pdftex test.tex
This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.1415926-1.40.9 (Web2C 7.5.7)
%&-line parsing enabled.
entering extended mode
(./test.tex
kpathsea: Running mktextfm lbr
mktextfm: Running mf-nowin -progname=mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1;
nonstopmode; input lbr
^Ckpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log.
! Font \lucida=lbr at 14.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found.
l.1 \font \lucida = lbr at 14pt
How do I get the lucida fonts to work in plain tex?
help appreciated.
