[lucida] Problem installing the Lucida fonts

I just purchased both the MathTimePro2 and Lucida fonts from PCTeX, and
installed both of them into TeXLive 2007 running on a Linux [Slackware 12.0.0
Linux version 2.6.21.5-smp (root at midas) (gcc version 4.1.2) #2 SMP Tue Jun 19
14:58:11 CDT 2007] PC.  MathTimePro2 installed without a hitch, but although
the process for the Lucida fonts is essentially the same, there appears to be
a problem with the font mapping.

Using PdfLaTeX on a very small test file:

and an empty pdf file.

This looks like a problem with the map file, but running 
updmap-sys --enable Map=lucida.map
as root did indeed update the TEXDIR/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg
file and appeared to update the relevant other files as well.
And I did remake the filename database with mktexlsr.

For the moment I've run out of ideas of what to try next, so I'm hoping I can
get some suggestions from you kind readers.
