No, that's not the failing example as it uses an otf font. 
I only wanted to mention the bug so that Patrick is warned in case
type1 font are involved.

The failing example is 

\nopagenumbers
%\font\1="cmr10" at 10pt % OK
%\font\1="pbkd8t" at 10pt  % not OK
\font\1="SourceSansPro-Regular-osf-t1" at 10pt % not OK
\1 aaa

\letterspacefont\2\1 100
\2 aaa

But as I wrote the bug has been resolved and in the current 1.08 (id
6930) it works fine.
