[luatex] How to letter space font?

Hello all,


I need to insert little spaces between characters / glyphs in a word. If I understand the manual correctly, there was a primitive \letterspacefont in pdftex doing that. Is there something similar in LuaTeX? (I have never used the PDFTeX's command).

Of course I could insert little spaces myself, but if there is a convenient command for that, I'd give this a try.
