No problem with using the information at this end. It's still too technical but I've had multiple folks use it more or less successfully.

By the way, I believe TeX Live Utility, the GUI tlmgr front end (and more) for Mac, has a Preference check box that will have it run updmap if the tlmgr log shows a run of updmap-sys. I haven't used that option so I may be wrong about how it works.
