Hi,

I'm new to LuaTeX (but not to Lua). I am running Fedora Core 14 on x86_64

I tried to approaches:

1. A minimal install from source (0.65) as detailed in this blog post:
http://www.readytext.co.uk/?p=642

In this approach I fail to build the .fmt files:

luatex --ini plain \dump

--
kdebug:start search(files=[/myluatex/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/hyphen.tex],
must_exist=0, find_all=0, path=.:/myluatex/texmf/tex//).
kdebug:search([/myluatex/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/hyphen.tex]) =>
/myluatex/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/hyphen.tex
kdebug:fopen(/myluatex/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/hyphen.tex, rb) => 0x21b6100

(/myluatex/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/hyphen.tex))
*
--

2. Using the Fedora repository (0.60)

Below is the output I get when trying to generate a basic document:

# luatex t
FontForge does not support your encoding (utf8), it will pretend the
local encoding is latin1
This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.60.2-2011020812 (TeX Live 2011/dev) (rev 3736)
 restricted \write18 enabled.
(./t.tex
! Undefined control sequence.
l.2 \starttext

Could anybody provide any hints on how to fixe these issues ? What is
the FontForge message about ?
(BTW, I also installed the texlive-unicode-cm package)

regards
jose
